Defeat Your Past By facing The Future 5
And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. Exo 14:13
Bible Reading: Ex 14:1-31
Grace is the free and unmerited favour of God. Every time God bestows it, it is for His reason and not yours. God’s grace grants victories in life affairs because of God’s good plan.
It is difficult for most people to look away from the travails of the past. It is however necessary for everyone to know that if the departure from the past was on a note grace-given victory, the past should not be part of the concern again.
Human tradition disagrees with the bit about the past not being your concern again, especially since the victory was won by God’s grace. Human tradition celebrates weakness and vulnerability while the grace of God on the other hand makes one confident (in the Lord) and graceful.
Gracefulness comes when you have experienced and can remember what the grace of God has done for you.
Gracefulness is bold: calm like David before Goliath; at rest like Christ while blessing the five loaves and five fishes; and confident like Him while by the grave of Lazarus. Gracefulness is enthusiastic. The world will not like that and it doesn’t have to like it for being enthusiastic is being filled with all of God.
In spite of the circumstance, gracefulness thinks about the goodness of Jesus and all that He has done; all that is within shout hallelujah, praising God for all He done.
Gracefulness remembers. An average person forgets grace so soon. Thank God for David when faced with Goliath, her embedded the grace-given victories from the past – 1Sam 17: 32-3; gracefulness is why the slave girl would ask Naaman to go to the prophet in Samaria; it is why Joseph will say to the butler, remember me. It is why paul will say all these have been to me for the furtherance of the gospel; it is why Peter will say silver and gold I have not, but such as I have ….
Don’t Forget God’s Grace. Ex 14:10-12; When you forget grace you lament; you regret; you blame others for your unpleasant experiences. When you forget grace, you prefer the past and forget the future.
