IT IS IN OUR CHOICES

Christian maturity is not in knowledge of everything; not totally in association or affiliation; not in title or position; not in form or facade, it is in choices.
As the earth continues, we will continue to be faced with choices to make.

Painfully these days, believers asked questions that should not be asked. It is not that they do not know. it is that the heart is not bent enough towards the Lord to choose according to His will.

When fellowship is not deep enough, choices will be bound in the shallow waters of the realities of this world and not IN THE REALITIES OF THE WORD – the will of God, which is good, acceptable, and perfect.

The choice of the will of God as good, as acceptable, and as perfect is the mark of serious (not perfect) Christians.

He guides our hearts in our choices. we may struggle with it; we still yield to it. We may feel the pain of the choice; we still have pleasure in it.

The prince of this age lies at the door always, to peddle its wares and lead God’s people into myopia. Whatever else will be the cause or basis for these shallow choices than myopia – not being able to see afar off; not keeping eternity in view; not pursuing to make the calling and election sure.

Our choices will not always be agreeable with the world nor with its realities; not pleasant to the flesh not to its quest for gratifying pulls, it will however be pleasing to the soul which finds pleasure in pleasing the Lord.
The Spirit of the Lord is always around to lead and guide, only if we are inclined to him shall we hear and know His quiet promptings. He will always lead us to glorify God; to show the world that in spite of its disagreement with God’s will, we choose to honour Him with our yieldedness.

It is in the choices; our mature walk with God is seen in our choices.

Selah!

HOW TO CROSS SIGNIFICANT HURDLES INTO YOUR PROMISE 3

…, “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it. Joshua 3:3

The promise from God grants you a window into the plan of God or points you through the scriptures to a future waiting for you. The promise is a settled plan with God. Every time God says I will, it is because he has- josh 1:2-3. His works are already finished …. Heb. 4:3. All that is needed from man for the realisation of the promise is not the effort of man but the faith of man in the finished work. The supply comes from the love/grace of God. The receipt is accomplished through or via the faith channel.

The Israelites were not going to cross Jordan because they have come to Jordan; they will because it was in the plan. They did not choose the route, God did. He knew what will be on the way before he commanded their entrance into the promise. Look at Matt. 8:18; 23-27. With God, there is no hurdle on the way. He only sees the route to the destination. We, however, see hurdles naturally just as the disciples saw the storm in Matt 8:24 and in Matt 14:22-33. We see the problems instead of the prospects, like Zerubbabel (Zech 4:7) until he saw from God’s perspective.

God wants us to see the solution: In Matt. 8:25, they looked to the Lord; In Matt. 14:27-30, he looked to the Lord; In Zech. 4:6, he looked to the word of the Lord and the spirit of the Lord. God has already settled it that Jordan shall be crossed.

The key to crossing the hurdle as planned was seeing the Ark of the covenant of the Lord and the priests bearing it, Josh 3:3.

The Ark of the covenant of the Lord – Ex 25:10-22, was the most important furniture in the tabernacle of witness. The tabernacle was constructed all because of the Ark and it was the first sacred object Moses was instructed to construct. It was a rectangular wooden case that was overlaid with pure gold. It has golden crown around its top. The lid on its top, separate, yet one with the ark, was known as Mercy Seat with the cherubim which cover the mercy seat. Inside it was the stone tablets of the ten commandments, the golden pot containing a measure of manna; and later, Aaron’s rod that budded – Num. 17:7-8.

It was part of Christ concealed in the Old Testament as types and shadows. The acacia wood speaks of the indestructible complete humanity of Christ. The gold overlay speaks of the divinity and glory of Christ. The golden crown around the lid signified Him as the King of kings and Lord of lords. The unbroken tables of the law speak of the perfect obedience of Christ. Aaron’s rod that budded was a pointer to Jesus’ confirmation to be the son of God and our eternal High Priest, through his resurrection. Rom 1:3-4; Heb. 4:14; The golden poles, represented the ever present and Living Saviour. The ark led their procession just as Christ leads his sheep. Jn 10:1-5. If the hurdles before us will be crossed, our eyes must be on Jesus.

The second part of the instruction is not about the priests but still about the ark. While every believer is a priest in the New Testament, the reference here is to the priests who bear the bear the Ark just like those who preach the word. No one is called to ultimately follow the preacher. The significance of the preacher is in the word he preaches. Ask every time what the minister is bearing. His words must publish Christ who is our redemption, the wisdom and the power of God.

Whether it is to cross your hurdle or to make progress into the future, look for the direction of the word. Your salvation lies where the word points to. When we behold carefully where the word points, we shall be wise unto salvation. The ultimate key to crossing your hurdle is Christ, the living word, who is in the midst of his church. He is our salvation; the wisdom and the power of God.

OUT OF ZION 032| SPY OUT YOUR FUTURE AND THE PROMISE 2

“I know that the Lord has given you the land, that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea … and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, …. And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath. Josh. 2:9-11

It is good to know of the ultimate future; it is important also to be able to trace your way there. Now that you know where you are going, know to also trace the way from where you are …. One of the way to do that is to embark on an espionage mission just the way Abraham journeyed as a sojourner across the land of Canaan. Doing this is both dangerous and advantageous. The advantages outweigh if you see in a positive perspective.

When you are set to explore the prospects ahead, make sure you:

Do it WITH A FIRM PERSPECTIVE ON WHAT GOD IS ABLE TO DO. Ps 149:4 says that the pleasure of God in His people will cause Him to beautify them, when humble or submissive, with salvation. This indicates that though there will be challenges, there will be a way out by God’s saving grace.

Do it WITH THE AGREEMENT OF LIKEMINDED PERSONS who are either with you on the mission or who partner with you by healthily supporting or listening to you. You don’t need the crowd around you; you don’t need the hang-arounds. You need partners. Partners are either in agreement with you or collaborating with you for success. Look carefully at the context of Joshua 2 and you will see the difference between the mission in Num. 13 and the one here. The significant difference is that of number; not that of location; and not that of distance. It is the difference of attitude. While they were 12 at Kadesh-Barnea, they were divided in their attitude and perspective. The team of two that Joshua sent was together. If the attitude in Num. 13 is involved in Josh 2, the spies might fail by getting caught.

Do it by ensuring that the testimonies from the past go ahead of you to weaken every contradictory evidences or possibilities (the negative possibilities) – Ps 149:5-9. Most of us want the testimonies to ring forth on their own, but practically you will have to noise out loud whatever God has done for you. When you know to sing forth God’s praise, you are arming yourself with a lethal weapon to take the promises ahead. Stop whining or crying; start to praise and testify. Let the heavens, earth, and hell hear from you. Count your blessings and name them one by one.

The inside information for you today and every time you spy out the future is that THE LORD HAS GIVEN YOU THE LAND. Josh 2:9. Go and spend time thinking ahead in the light of the promise. Those around your allotment shall be terrified and fainthearted. Your own tool for fight shall be the promise and the testimonies of what God has done in your life in the past.

If the enemy is still rearing up its ugly head, engage testimonies of praise and fight with the word. Praise and the spoken word are tools for warfare. The honour of the saints is to know to use these to execute vengeance, punishments and judgement on the enemies of righteousness while insisting that the land is yours.

OUT OF ZION 031 | SPY OUT YOUR FUTURE AND THE PROMISE

Now Joshua the son of Nun sent out two men from Acacia Grove to spy secretly, saying, “Go, view the land, especially Jericho.” So they went, … to search out the country.” Josh 2:1-2

Vision belongs to those who are interested in the future. When there is a desire and a long for things beyond here and now, the Holy Spirit blesses with vision according to the will of God. Vision is very important because the future belongs only to those who see ahead. Nobody has the future without having a vision. Pro 20:19; 1Cor 2:9-10. While receiving a vision is good, it is necessary to get clarity of vision. Everyone needs to have a clearer idea of things, the promises and prospects ahead consequent to the revelations by the Holy Spirit.

If anything shall come to pass in your life, there must be a knowing and a progression on that knowledge continuum until the promises come to pass. A clearer vision does not come unless the desire gets more intense. Clarity of vision causes you to know that the land is already yours. It is good to know of the ultimate future; it is important also to be able to trace your way there. Now that you know where you are going, know to also trace the way from where you are.

‘From where you are’ is the pattern from the beginning. God blessed Adam from where he was. Gen 1:28; Abraham will inherit the land by first seeing it from where he was – Gen 13:14-17; If there is a disconnect between where you are and where you are going, the journey is in trouble. See from where you are. Connect the dots. One of the way to do that is to embark on an espionage mission just the way Abraham journeyed as a sojourner across the land of Canaan.

AN ESPIONAGE MISSION is the act of checking out or spying out covertly the territory you are interested in ahead of time. This spying is done on a territory outside your current or friendly zone. You may be interested to that the territory promised you is outside your friendly zone.

YOU NEED TO SPY THE LAND/PROMISE OUT to familiarise yourself with that territory as your ego is more comfortable here than there. This spiritual exercise will help you to bridge the existing gap. It is the obligation of God the Spirit to grant you the revelation; it is however your own responsibility to own or take possession of the revelation. Deut 29:29

EMBARKING ON AN ESPIONAGE MISSION is both dangerous and advantageous, since it is carried out in a territory outside the comfort zone of your ego. Do you know why most people do not explore ahead their promise and prospects? They do because they are afraid of impossibilities and worry. When you spy out the future you will see the advantages of the enemy; the strength and the fortresses. These are dangerous, resisting and discouraging to you; these are contradictory to the promise. The enemy uses them to attack your head/mind. If he conquers there, there will be failure such as portrayed in Num. 13 and 14.

There are, on the hand, loads of benefits to thinking ahead. You will see the prospects of the promise. These prospects are advantageous to your journey. Look very well and you will see the loopholes and the vulnerabilities/weaknesses of the enemy; look well and you will see the evidences of how possible the promise is.  (to be continued)
