  • Silence Will Not Always Be Golden

    July 2nd, 2019

The reason why silence has been golden in Nigeria is related on one hand to the African culture and on the other, to the wrong understanding of the anointing.

Anointing has been treated like the immunity that the Nigerian presidents and governors enjoy. People are silent because overtly and covertly, the anointed has insisted on his anointing more than in God. Worship in the church has been more for them than for the Lord.

One of the things that will happen and that has started is the demystification of the anointed. It is greatly needed in Nigeria.

The anointing does not make anyone invincible, it rather empowers for service. The Lord will not waste a generation because people dissociate from unfruitful works of darkness that should be rebuked and exposed.

The scandals under cover are more than this celebrated one. This is a child’s play compared to others.

There is evil in the church and the Lord will not cover it. He is patient in mercy but will not cover the evil that stains His church.

We have foolishly respected the anointing more than CHRISTIAN living.

Kenneth Hagin was sent in the 1960s to warn those who had greater tents and meetings that he had.

They were great guys with great and impressive exploits. They started to die one by one. Hagin told some of them that derided the warning that when they are gone, he will still be here.

Young ministers, have been taught that the only way to earn the grace on the famous ones is never to see their wrongs or errors. A generation that delights in results that in Christlike life was surreptitiously raised.

Even fake anointing has been honoured. Who wouldn’t since we all want ‘to make it’.

We understand and could relate with Jesus’ rebuke of the Jewish religious leaders because they were not on his side.

The greatest damage today is not from those who are not on his side.

It is from those who have called His name and suppressed the truth for a lie

It is from those who respond more to the time than to the timeless word

It is from those who skilfully appeal more to people’s felt need than to the transformation needed

    It is from those who fill the pews with people who cannot be vouched for in the public;

It is from those who accomplish great projects with the support of those they will back away from when EFCC comes calling

It is from those who merchandise the anointing, because their god is their belly

    It is from those who glory in things that will result in their shame;

It is from impressive rhetorics that has not promoted the culture of righteous living.

It was in prophecy in the USA for decades; mega churches that were the flagship of the Christian faith folded up; the facilities were sold.

Homosexuality; ponography; pimping; sexual immorality; financial impropriety et al caused the grace to gradually leak until some became a shadow of their past.

The game is stronger today. Patronage of content beyond and outside the Biblical corpus has strengthen many to continue to make appeal. Suppression of the truth by those who know and created an enabling environment in the church for immorality and unrighteousness has been the forte for some’s continuous appeal. Money, money, money and promise of wealth is why some keep their pew in the church.

We have forgotten that days on earth are numbered. We have believed that exploits that appeal to men will be the same as that which Christ will look for on that day. We have promoted corruption in CHRISTIAN organisations

The impact of the church is great in those days, the compromise of the church is greater today. Scammers flourish more after sunday services because everyone must make it. Member have confessed that they got into scamming because they know what their pastor also did to make it.

The prophetic has lost its cutting edge of social reformation for righteousness. Social reformation has related more with geographic landscape and real estate.

The church in its earliest days of glory had no Estate until it was corrupted in the third century by the Roman Constantine. Those who misunderstood history thought it was the beginning of breakthrough when the political power and exposure started to diminish the church of its sanctity.

The words that should wake up a generation from its slumber has been suppressed for soothsaying and signs. The soothsayer is wealthy as he is the seer for those who never cared to be transformed. The practice brings more money to His pocket and satisfy the lazy patrons with promises of temporal protection and non-transforming guidance of a medium.

Those who discern sit in silence afar off. They will not speak and are not tired of watching the drama.

The cleansing of the church will not start on the day of rapture; it will begin now. The chaff will be separated from the wheat.

A new breed of young ministers will be raised. They will refuse the kings dainties. They will depart from honouring corruption to true reverence of the chief shepherd of the church. They will discern the error that lurks around today’s ‘greatness’. They will think more of the vision of the Lord for a church without spot and without blemish and run from the blemishes and the wrinkles that characterise the church that half-heartedly look forward to the coming of the Lord.

Relationships shall be redefined. Sweet counsel that leads to the Lord shall be desired in place of impressive deliberations for worldly success.

Altars of worship shall be cleansed; performance and performers shall find their level. Pure worship shall be restored. Entertaining art shall give way to reverence for Him that sits on the throne.

The problem will not be solved in its entirety. As many will more will be revealed on that day.

Scandals haven’t rocked the Nigerian church. The ones coming shall be more bewildering than what brown envelopes can suppress.

They have not spilled the beans because with their disappointment they are still afraid to speak because of ‘Daddy’s anointing’.

By the time the demystification of the anointed has trended, more stories shall be told.

    Ephesians 5:8-13

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light

(for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)

and find out what pleases the Lord.

Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.

But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.

  • Success Made Certain.

    June 21st, 2019

A great sage in Japan was visited by a fighter.

The fighter was afraid of losing and asked for guidance. The sage told him not to worry, not to be afraid. He said he had a powder that would make him unbeatable. He told him it made everyone else he gave it to unbeatable as well.

The fighter listened intently. The sage then gave him the powder and told him how to mix it with water every day.

He said that if he drank it in water before his fights he would be assured of victory. This powder would give him strength, speed and stamina, it would make him invincible!

For many years afterwards this fighter was unstoppable. He never lost a single bout. He was absolute perfection, just as the sage predicted.

    The Real Powder

Then one day the fighter visited the sage to ask for more information about the powder. He wanted to know why it was so powerful and what was in it that made it so effective. At this point the sage asked the fighter to follow him.

The sage led the fighter to a shed where food supplies were stacked. He reached into a sack, grabbed a handful of powder and let it fall form his hands.

“This is the magic powder I gave you”, said the sage.

The fighter drew closer to the sack and proceeded to read the writing on the bag. Before the fighter could open his mouth the sage said, “Its flour. I gave you flour used for baking!”

“You gave me what?” Said the fighter. “Flour?”

“Yes, I gave you flour.” said the sage. “And this proves that you won the fights because you had the ‘knowing’ that the powder gave you everything you needed to succeed.

It is this ‘knowing’ that causes success or failure. You could’ve succeeded without the powder if you ‘knew’ you would. When you ‘know’ something, there is no doubt. No resistance. When you ‘know’ something, your mind, body, and the power of heaven and earth conspire to make it come to reality. According to your ‘knowing’ you have achieved your victories. Now go back to your training ‘knowing’ what you do now, as you did with the powder … and victory will be yours!

    Great story right?

  • Biblical Teaching and Social Context

    June 4th, 2019

Political correctness has become the order of the day. If is only good when preachers preach what you prefer.

He was teaching contextually and emphasised what the Bible teaches and because of the Nigerian situation you are all over the place against Him.

He did not even mention names.

You will have more people to be angry with when Pastors stop all their politically correct topical selections and teach from the Scriptures in context.

Even when Nero was against the church, Peter taught, not out of fear as you suggested, but in consideration of believers as strangers and pilgrims on earth whose duties are primarily to God and such duties demonstrated by their civic responsibility of submission to authorities as those who represent the Lord.

Do you really want him to rewrite the scriptures?

Maybe we need more of line by line teachings or contextual messages from the scriptures.

There are certain part of the Bible that some churches haven’t learned from for decades. You understand why many fight on Facebook against right teaching.

You are simply saying, because Nigeria is this way, some stuffs should not be taught.

The word of God is above your situation and authoritative over your social context or you only calm Him Lord without being ready to His will.

  • The Foundation of the Lord is Sure

    June 1st, 2019

    Too many dirty stories around
    Encouraged by hero-worship abounding
And love for the name that walled us from others
More than the true worship of our Father in heaven.

    Values are trending downhill
    Ethics are now backseated
    We protect our togetherness
More than we do, the interest of Christ

We don’t sack anyone in this place
Scam, steal, or wound them in your trail
We will maintain you in power
That our polity may not be rocked

Defining the middle road seems more difficult
Speak up in the interest of the body, we were taught
Cover up the wounded soldiers, they even quipped
And evil abounds in the household of God

They bear the brunt, yet in their leaders care
The effect of bad examples and of human abuses
You dare not touch the Lord’s anointed
Even when the professional, only represents by the words of mouth

Make it and take it has become the order
Life is rated only by the glitters
Even if they are faking it and missing it
At least people see what is impressive to them.

Eloquence in lieu of true power
Psychology and mind power over discernment
    We’ve been ‘corinthianised’ for decades
To love them by their power of words

They see your troubles by the spirit
But you have to drop your dollars for the blessing
Don’t you know you have to part with what you have
For you need the oil in their reserve

Even if you are conned of your fund
At least you get the thrill from their skill
And even if your account is depleted after the service
The unction functions on your victims too till the next service

    Younger ones in trouble everywhere
Not everyone read the Book for themselves
Who cares when the needed model seems adequate
With the man that flaunts all that he’s got.

    Mockers of rightness abound everywhere
Deception and veiled intentions on the stage
They quipped of their stage being the place
Where the grace of God is so abounding.

The power now turns stones to bread
The allurements of the world, now part of the goal
The more the gold, the more our God
As if His glory is in our shows

Kiss their hands and lick their boots
Unless you don’t need their grace
By it they can make or mar
You sure don’t want them to curse

Give your body to get the baby
But Daddy this is biblically wrong
He’ll tell you the story of David
That He got the girl without losing His God

This grace, they said, will never depart
Even if they do whatever they want
Theirs is the God who’s grace ever covers
Even the riot of the rascals and prodigals

Come to the church and join their ranks
You don’t even need to cease being yourself
Just say that Jesus is Lord
And you are assured, of being safer than ever before

So we have many that name Him the Lord
And bother not to do His will
Why should that be a matter of concern
    Haven’t Jesus paid it all.

It is surely a very thin line
Between your will and His will
And if care is not even taken
Your empire takes over a portion of His kingdom

Shouldn’t we pray for mature hearts that can journal
To investigate and document this spate for posterity
And if necessary bring the actors to book
That the generation coming might be safe

If you violate them, it’s not the end
In the climes where they know to think
    Even if it’s decades afterwards
You will still be brought to book

I am coming very soon says the Lord
To repay everyone per their works
Don’t forget that He had one concern
When He comes, shall He find the faith on earth.

The foundation of the Lord is sure
    It has just one seal
Let those who call the name of the Lord
Depart from every form of iniquity.

  • Blessed are the Peacemakers …

    March 13th, 2019

There is a thin line between playing religious game and being Christ’s disciples.

Jesus looked at them on the mount and told them, blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God.

Can we transform with His eternal principle on the way towards the goal of our high calling in Christ.

Our calling is not to fire the embers of division but to be peacemakers. It is to make peace and not war. It is to continually speak peace even when those who are in opposition are spitting war.

This war mode only builds the walls that Jesus pulled down with His sacrifice on Calvary. This war mode only pitches us again Christ’s other sheep who are still outside the fold.

We cannot fight them today, because of religious and political divisiveness and expect to “Bring them in from the fields of sin …[and] Bring the wand’ring ones to Jesus.”

I have been restless in the past few days, praying that the Lord will raise peace makers in the church. Those who are either praying right, and articulating blessings in the closet or making peace in the public even if the atmosphere is of war.

Our wineskin is leaking, we are beginning to think the old way of the flesh is the right way. The leakage is bringing in strange waters that the church isn’t know for in the yesteryears. It is corrupting the souls of the saints.

A cross-section of the church today will go physical when they feel their leader has being violated. The message on mountains and hills is not longer to shear the sword.

Some of our leaders have flagrantly dissented from the teachings on the Lord in the mount.

If in the name of safety, we have created a generation of believers who are so enemy conscious full time and distracted from pursuing the mark of the high calling in Christ, why will political interest not become the reason why strange teachings and strange utterance will flow from the pulpit.

Politics, religious, and ethnic interests, not the faith once delivered to the saints, is are reason for for the new wave on violent Christians – the wave that trended from mid-eighties when progress in understanding was tainted with flesh, empire building, and divisiveness.

The landmark of examples from the father’s of faith from the past have been violated on the altar of fleshly revelations.

In the first century, the uproar against the church want less than the one we have today. The teachings in the epistles portended a church that was law abiding and praying for leaders opposed to them.

Fleshly teachings and choices; flesh plus the prophetic which equals SPECULATIONS have taken over.

Who is thinking? Who is concerned about the next generation of believers? What will it be like a hundred years from now?

Jesus did not arouse the mob. Peter and John did not when they were to be taken. When Peter was released from prison, there was no misinformed expressions and violation of the souls of the saints by mobilising them for war and division.

Let’s go back to the closet and pray right. Let’s come into the open to make peace and not war.

Peacemakers resolve issues with peace and love, not with conflict. We can still use activism of ideological persuasion subject to Christ’s teachings instead of idolising the sociological doctrine of conflict viewpoint. Let’s keep the society or the nation together, let the testimony of division not be from the church.
