  • Man Shall Live By the Word of God

    June 4th, 2015

Man’s life is not sustained by the provision he requires or receives; it is sustained by the words spoken by God.

Bible Reading: Ex 16:11-28; Matt 4:4
    ———————————————–

When you go through the wilderness experience and find yourself surrounded by myriads of challenges and pressures, you are likely to be tuned into the survival mode.
Survival mode is when you are not living the life you are meant to but you are only mindful of seeing your needs met. This is life at the lowest rung of life’s ladder, even according to Maslow’s hierarchy of need.
The natural belief is that the basic needs must first be met because man can pursue higher purpose, but this is why the greater percentage of human population live at the lowest level of the rung in social ladder. This is the commonest way to live and it is not in accordance with God’s plan. Those who have made serious meaning in life are those who learnt to look beyond the needs to something higher beckoning at them.

God wants us to be purposeful and mindful of the high calling upon your life. I prefer to call it high calling because it is not a scheme structured on earth; it is the plan of God already settled in heaven.
God wants you to know that Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word from His mouth. The word bread is used of food or provision in general. Man’s life is not sustained by the provision he requires or receives; it is sustained by the word spoken by God.

You are more than the material body – you are a living soul designed to fulfil particular purposes on earth.

  • Put Your Life in Order with God’s Word 7

    June 3rd, 2015

Moses told them the Israelites that the words of God are not idle words; they are life and tool for long life to the recipients (Deut 32:47); the blessing of the word can make a nation great because of the wisdom and the understanding to be gained from it (Deut 4:6).

    Bible Reading: Ex 15:22-27
    ———————————————–

God wanted Israel to give attention to the words of His mouth; He wanted them to be guided or ordered by His words. If this was their continual disposition, how beautiful will life would have been for them. God does nothing in man’s life without the agency of His all important and powerful word.

The provision of the word is what the blessings of God actually are. The word embraced as life will forbid diseases in the camp of God’s people. The direction that it gives ensures this. It is the word that will distinguish you from others in the world. Moses told them the Israelites that the words of God are not idle words; they are life and tool for long life to the recipients (Deut 32:47); the blessing of the word can make a nation great because of the wisdom and the understanding to be gained from it (Deut 4:6).

You need to know that till today God is still interested in you taking His words seriously, to order your steps with them. When you are so guided, there will be an avenue for grace to abound in your life beyond your comprehension.

Keeping God’s word is for your good and John said His laws are not burdensome (Jn 5:2).

    Bible Reading: Ex 15:22-27

    ———————————————–

When the people needed water, God healed the bitter water. He showed them His acts. Life with God is not reduced to seeing His works alone. He also wants you to understand His ways and live by His words.

He therefore set out to put things in order by giving them an ordinance or instruction. He did this to both correct and direct them to put their lives in order for the future.
That God blesses you in spite of your human inconsistency does not mean He is set out to ever gratify you. Keeping God’s word is for your good and John said His laws are not burdensome (Jn 5:2).

The word of God will furnish propriety among the people God. The word of God is more than a direction of what to do, it comes also with promises to be enjoyed.
You need to understand today that God still has expectations of you. He is justified to because He has made the provision for you to fulfil his expectations with the implantation of the new life within you. He will not ask of you what you cannot do. We can keep His word because we are creations of His word. The more devoted we are to His word, the more of his grace we enjoy.

He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel. Ps 103:7

Bible Reading: Ex 15:22-27; Phil 4:6

    ———————————————–

When the people mounted pressure by complaining, Moses cried to the Lord.

To cry means to call out in distress or in need of help. This certainly is a better option that complaining. You have the invite to call upon the Lord. Ps 50:15; Jer 33:3; When you cry unto the Lord, He hears, Ps 3:4; 22:5; 30:2; 99:6; 91:15. The word cry is used for the expression of prayer, Ps 88:13; 107:6,13,19; Phil 4:6.
It is good to cry to the Lord because He is our refuge and our portion in the land of the living. When you think there is nothing, remember that you have the Lord.

When Moses called out, the Lord answered. The Lord responded, not with a performance, but with a direction, an instruction, a revelation of a way out of the distress. The wisdom of God looks very stupid to an average person, whereas the effect it produces is unimaginable. 1Cor 1:18; 2Ki 2:21; 4:41

Moses saw the tree, and cast it into the waters and they were made sweet.
Learn to pray in terms of what to do than for what God should do because the solution is always there before the problem is discovered.

This should encourage your heart to seek the ways of God than His acts.

  • Put Your Life in Order with God’s Word 4

    May 29th, 2015

When you are confronted by the pressures of life, let your eyes be in Jesus and the things of this world will grow light and dim in the light of His glory and grace. You do not have to be anxious when confronted by life’s situation.

Bible Reading: Ex 15:22-27; Phil 4:6

    ———————————————–

You don’t have to be anxious, neither do you have to complain. The failure of the children of Israel when confronted by the need of water was expressed in their anxiety and complaints against Moses.

They were anxious, whereas it was unnecessary. Anxiety only takes place when attention is more on things than on God. To be anxious means to be troubled with cares; to look out for things or to seek to promote one’s interests. Devotion must be to God and not to self or to to things, Matt 6:25-34; and devotion to God cannot only be when things are okay.

If you do not learn to put your trust in God through prayer, supplication and thanksgiving, anxiety will come and it will lead to complaints.

The children of Israel complained against Moses; whereas as their leader he was not their God. In Hebrew language, to complain means to stop overnight or to stay permanently. Their complaint indicates that they were no longer progressing with God. The negative sense of these meanings is seen when you relate them with the idea of being obstinate. Their complaint was a reaction and an affront against God. Someone has rightly said, “The wise responds, the otherwise reacts”.
Their complaint was a simple “What shall we drink?”. Nothing ordinarily was wrong with the statement except for the fact that it was a complaint. Would it not have been better as a prayer unto God?

When you are confronted by the pressures of life, let your eyes be in Jesus and the things of this world will grow light and dim in the light of His glory and grace. You do not have to be anxious when confronted by life’s situation.
